CHKDSK
I have recently built a new computer for gaming and multimedia purposes. It is running Windows 7 64-bit and every once in a while I shut it down. And when I went to turn it recently from a shut down it booted fine but it ran a CHKDSK. I usually don't get these often but when I do they are nothing more than a minor inconvenience however this time it had 5 stages and it took around three hours. My first question would be is this normal? And my second question is ; does having a 1TB hard drive have anything to do with it? along with after the CHKDSK was finished it performed a lot of updates. And from what I saw after the CHKDSK was finished there were no bad sectors on the hard drive.

This is a known problem. I've never encountered it but seen many posts related to it. Perhaps one of the easiest ways could be to try the suggestions from this thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7itprosecurity/thread/60776A40-C585-4814-88A3-FEC4005D281B. Something in my mind says there was a common cause for this issue, too, but I can't remember right now. If I find the info, I'll repost."I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.
