CAN I CONNECT MY WINDOWS7 COMPUTERS ON MY SERVER 2003 NETWORK
My network is running Active Directory on Windows Server 2003 OS, which houses my domains. I have five new PC's which run Windows7 that i want to put on the network addressing system but i do not want to add them to the domain. I also need to be able to network each of the Windows7 PC's together in order to share resources and control them remotely from one Windows7 Server. My question is can you put the Windows7 computers on a homegroup in this type of setting and how can I set them up for remote access control?

To answer your questions - Yes, you don't have to join the domain and can set up a homegroup with just the Win 7 machines. Also, for RDC you'll just have to turn that feature on and set up the users. To login to each though, you'll have to provide a local account, as your domain users won't be recognized. Now, that said, if you use a homegroup, those computers will not be easily accessible from any other computer on your domain, so a workgroup might actually be a better choice. Is there some particular reason you don't want to join them to the domain? It makes remote management of them so much easier...
