Buying a Windows 7 Ultimate License from a Technet User
Last month, I made the mistake of purchasing a Windows 7 Ultimate license key from a Technet user. I found out it was a Technet license by consulting a few people who had knowledge in this area. I talked to the seller and he quickly acknowledged that he got it from a Microsoft subscription. He told me up front that he sells each key no more than 5 times. He assured me that the key would never de-activate or become un-genuine b/c of his 5 time limit. From reading the forums, I assume I am fine if he is being truthful. I've read the following: "Anyone buying a technet key on e-bay will be fine as long as that same key isin't re-sold more than maybe 4 or 5 times. And actually, each key can be installed on up to 10 different computers." "b) users using the key are careful not to accept a Windows Genuine Advantage spyware update when performing manual Windows or Microsoft update sessions." My question is: To keep the key genuine, I can't accept a Microsoft/WGA updates because it may include a spyware update? If he truly sells each key 5 times, then Microsoft will never catch on to this and my key will stay genuine forever, right? Please answer truthfully. No need for warnings on pirated software and advice on buying a legitimate copy. I just want to know if this will stay Genuine and what I need to do to keep it that way. Thank you.

Microsoft is constantly auditing TechNet and MSDN subscriptions for abuse and misuse and once the abuse/misuse is discovered, the product keys are blocked from further use. If you currently have a TechNet product key and you are not the legitimate TechNet subscriber, rest assured the product key will become blocked from use, sooner or later. In order to maintain your current Windows 7 Ultimate installation, you'll need to purchase a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate – Full Version and then Update your Windows product key. Carey Frisch
