Browser crashing, restarting on it's own, cannot do system restore.  Help!!
OK, so I've tried EVERYTHING I know how to do, and some things I researched.Every time my computer restarts on its own, I get an error message saying there is a faulty driver.I checked my drivers with the Verify tool, nothing.I uninstalled every unnecessary program I could find (nothing critical, just programs like Glary Utilities, Acrobat, Flash etc.).Eventually I got to a point where everything I did was making it worse, and my computer was telling me Windows could not start up. I restarted in safe mode and tried to do a system restore. I keep getting an error saying system restore was not successful, cannot restore to restore point. I tried FOUR different restore points.I am at my wits end!I do NOT have my Windows XP cd, or any of the discs the computer came with. This used to be my computer at work but they let me keep it as part of my severance, so all of the discs are at the old company. Please help :(Computer: DellIntel Core 2 Duo 2G RAM, Windows XP Professional1 person needs an answerI do too

Since this was a company computer and you are having serious problems buy a XP CD (they are not expensive now), Reformat and install XP and make the computerYOURS since it now belongs to you. You can start fresh and be problem free. If you need help to install XP we can help you here, just ask.

(For some reason, the font in your post is a very light gray!)Please relay the complete text of the error message. You used the phrase "everything I did." Besides uninstalling unused programs, what else did you do?If your old company gave you this PC, they should have given you the proper discs also. Fortunately, Dell XP Pro installation CDs are ubiquitous and interchangeable. First, contact Dell to see if they can issue you one. Otherwise, see if anyone you know has one.A number of security programs (e.g., Norton and Zone Alarm) interfere with System Restore. If you identify your security programs, we can tell you how you can get System Restore to work. For the time being, these pages might help:http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srfail.htmlhttp://bertk.mvps.org/html/symantecdoc1.htmlYou should be able to disable your automatic restarts this way:http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/ht/disautorestart.htmFinally, what is the malware status of this PC?
