Broadcom wireless problems
Ok, my problem is that my wireless connection keeps going out on me. I keep having to remove the Broadcom device drivers, turn my machine off, reinstall the drivers, turn my machine off and reboot. The system recoginzes that I have "new hardware" and installs it. After I turn my machine off, I'm back to square one and have to start all over again!!!

Hi, Thank you for posting. I suspect this should be a hardware issue. At this time, please try the following to narrow down it: 1. Please check if there is any error message appeared. If so, please let us know the detail. 2. If it worked before, a quick solution is to restore the system back to the previous status when the issue didnt occur with System Restore. (Note: Performing a system restore may cause the loss of the current system settings; therefore, before doing this, please make sure that the system restore point is not too old and set a restore point for the current status.) 3. Please check the wireless network signal strength. If it is not strong enough, this may cause the network disconnection issue. Meanwhile, you can also try the wired connection to see if it works. 4. May I know if the device is a removable one or if it is just built in the computer. If it is removable, please plug the device to another computer and check if it can work properly. 5. Please check if other computer on the same network has the similar issue. 6. Upgrade the driver of the device. (If you want, please let us know the exact model of the device, and we may help you check the manufacturers website.) Considering the issue is related to hardware, it is also recommended that you contact Broadcom for technical support. Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Try going to the device manager...you can do this by Right clicking on "Computer" and then click on "properties" in the pop down and then in the left hand pane under the list "Tasks" click on "Device manager". Find your network hardware and then right click on it and then try "update drivers" and then try "searching windows online"...this should work... or you can also try installing locally from locating the drivers and then try rebooting...hopefully this should help..... if not please let me know...Regards, KOWSHAL H.M. a.k.a W@R10CK

1. Please check if there is any error message appeared. If so, please let us know the detail. There are or have never been any error messages pop up. There is just no more wireless connection 2. If it worked before, a quick solution is to restore the system back to the previous status when the issue didnt occur with System Restore. (Note: Performing a system restore may cause the loss of the current system settings; therefore, before doing this, please make sure that the system restore point is not too old and set a restore point for the current status.) I did thisseveral times and it seemed to work, but when my system would update itself, the problem wouldoccur again. 3. Built in. 5. Please check if other computer on the same network has the similar issue. Not an issue on my other wireless laptop. 6. Upgrade the driver of the device. (If you want, please let us know the exact model of the device, and we may help you check the manufacturers website.)I attempted to delete the driver and re install it and that worked a few times but now that doesn't even work. I have been able to connect wirelessly through the LAN port. It's almost as if there is something deliberatly uninstalling the drivers and somehow hiding the the hardware on my computer. The device manager shows the NVidia network controller device but not the Broadcom wireless device. When I re install the driver the system says that my computer already has this software installed, but I re install it anyway. I re boot the computer and I have wireless for a short time and then it just dissappears.

Hi, Thank you for your update. I noticed that the Broadcom wireless device disappeared from Device Manager. If you have installed a wireless management utility to control the wireless adapter, please remove it and see if the wireless adapter will work properly. If the issue persists, I suspect this should be a hardware issue and it is recommended that you contact the computers manufacture for technical support. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT

Ok, I think that I may have found a solution. Here's what I've come up with:1. Restart PC2. Enter "Setup" by pressing <F10> as soon as you see the HP logo on you screen3. Go to "System Configuration" by pressing the left button twice4. Go to "Boot options" by pressing down button 4 times5. Press Enter6. Go to "Internal Network Adapter Boot" by pressing the the down button 3 times, then check if its DISABLED (of which in my case it was)7. Then press <F5 or F6> to ENABLE it.8. Lastly, Press <F10> to Save and Exit, then Select YESSo far it has worked flawlessly. Thanks for your help.
