Last week my PC was running as normal, I had pre-exam tests and brought my pc to- and from school Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I also used it Friday afternoon and again it was running perfectly fine but the next morning (Saturday) I started my laptop and it seemed to become progressively slower over the curse of four hours. I restarted the PC and it was still very slow so I turned it off for an hour and came back and it was running fine at first but again became progressively slower. I tried to update but at first it was showing 0 kb 0% for almost three hours until finally skipping to 93%. there's still one important update that i'll make it install but I doubt it'll help. I've also scanned the pc with norton only some tracking cookies that was then removed. Another issue is that the touchpad is very VERY slow. I use a wireless mouse which runs fine but the touchpad is lagging with four seconds or something. The laptop is only about a month old so it's pretty wierd that i'm already haveing major problems.

so just to sum up this long message my problems are:

PC slowdown over the course of four hours, when i restart it's sometimes fixed only to get slow again.

terrible touchpad lag but wireless mouse is fine.

thank you in advance :)

I shall suggest you to uninstall Norton. It slows the system.Regarding touch pad issue, visit the website of the manufacturer to download and install the latest touch pad driver.

Well i have a paid subscription at norton so it would really suck if i couldn't use it :/

also how do i determine what drivers my touchpad uses. i seem to recall that i had a synaptics process running in the process line (or whatever its called in english) in the lower right corner but it's gone now could that be the problem?

also another thing. norton has two icons in the proces line/box thingy why is that?

Hi again

i just got back after leaving my pc to do a komplety system scan in norton for 6 hours and i was met with " explorer.exe - System Warning "Unknown Hard Error"" and as soon as i touched the touchpad the pc froze (i could see that because of the loading bar in norton) i then forced my pc to turn off and when it rebooted everything seemed fine. i then downloaded and istalled the drivers for the touchpad did a reboot and the pc is still running fine. i doupth that its fixed though and even so i would like to know what caused it. if it accours again im gonna run the clean startup you suggested but if not i don't really have the time to fiddle too much with it as my exams are just around the corner.

thanks again for the help and the quick replies :)

Ps. as i was done posting this the problem returned

pps. it might be worth mentioning that it seems like every time i move the cursor, wether i use the wireless mouse or the touchpad, the system slows down. i noticed this beacause when watching videos on the internet the video and audio lags when i move the cursor but is fine when i

you seem to know what your talking about. If you have time read my post above  and it will give you an idea what's been happening with my cop. anything that could go wrong is. You suggested he get rid of Norton who I never cared for anyway but the Windows defender doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the hackers. Any suggestions on another Virus Malware protector. I got a rootkit driver  200025 error but cant find it with my virus detection. The Windows Viper Rescue application (I think that's right) caught it but couldn't fix it. Now what? I'M almost afraid of talking to tech support again cuz even though I'm pretty sure they're actually Micro.Soft I'm not sure I trust them either.

Didn't mean to jump on your blog Frederick but if I get an answer it will help you too. Good luck on your exams.
