Bootmgr is compressed
After degragging I could not turn the computer on again. Everytime I got a black screen and the message "Bootmgr is compressed." It also told me to click Ctrl-Alt-Del, but that just brought me back to the same screen. This notebook is running XP. Since it is a notebook, it does not have a CD drive.1 person needs an answerI do too

read this and go to the link The error usually occurs because the C drive has been compressed. As far as I am aware XP uses NTLDR rather than Boot Manager which is Vista related. It may be worth trying the NTLDR fix from click here If this works and allows XP to boot, remove the tick from 'Compress this drive to save space' from the properties of the C drive

i had that happen last week..i have another laptop that has 2 drives in it,if you have access to a laptop that is a 2 hard drive capable ,remove your hard drive from the computer that is compressed, take the #2 hard drive out of the laptop and put your hard drive in it. now boot the laptop,go into the computer and it should be the the second drive on the list , right click properties, towards the bottom of that screen there is an option that says compress hard drive to save disk space, uncheck that and follow the instructions ,it took about 20mins for it to run through the setup,it says it takes like a 1 day to do it but it doesn't. after that screen completes it will disappear, shut down the computer pull your hard drive out and insert it into your own laptop, boot it up,and your laptop should be good as new!!,,
