Booting issue
I have a dual boot system with 2 HD Windows 7 on both HD's. Everything works fine. This is a new computer. When I first brought it home. The bios came on first with a screen that said Press ctr+I for bios. That screen has dissapeared. I no longer see that screen. Now I get the initial screen with the manuf name and intel on it like before. Then I get instead of the quick bios startup screen. I get instead a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. Then just like when I got it I get press any key to start up DVD like before. So when new it would: Have a backround with the manufacturers name and intel on it Give the quick start bios screen with ctrl+I to get into the bios <- the way it originally was Then it would have press any key to access DVD/CD Now what it does is: Have a backround with the manufacturers name and intel on it Then it goes to a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner <- the problem Then it still has press any key to access DVD/CD This may not seem major. I can get into the bios thats not the problem. However I don't like it. I want it the way it originally was. I tried to install VLC player. I got it from a site. When it started installing. I had its own installer. It tried to put something called click potato on the computer. I stopped right there. However click potato still got on my hard drive. When I tried to remove it. It said you must reboot system. I do not like doing that because. I don't like things writting to my MBR. The problem above seemed to happen after that program installed itself. It was a program I did not want. It just helped itself to my computer. So what I did was reformat both HD's put a new installation on both. I still got the blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner instead of the quick bios screen again. Also I typed in spyware in the search box after the new installation. I got Windows defender. It said the service is stopped you must download new definitions. I did not touch anything as that was suspicious to me. Because defender had worked fine before and the service was not stopped on the previous installation. Let me say I am very aware that Microsoft has gone to great lengths. To keep its customers secure. Even rewritting windows with a different type of code. I appreciate that very much. I love Windows 7. They have tried everything to make this the best system possible. One of the major problems I have had with computers in the past is the boot sector. There are a lot of programs and the internet that like to write code. That regular people don't understand and can't get to. The one place it likes to write to is the bootsector. If there was some way to identify and remove entries we don't want on there. From little mischief programs that like to stay on your computer. I have tried this: fixmbr fixboot also rebuilding the BCD with all the switchs I still get the screen with the blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. I dont know if the entry is hidden. I tried using easybcd. The only thing I saw was in the debug screen where it has a RESUME entry. I don't know if that belongs there. The computer boots just fine. If you could tell me how to get to the entry that makes that blinking cursor come on the upper left hand corner instead of the bios quick start screen I would appreciate that. I look forward to your answer. Again thank you Microsoft for going to the great lengths you have to keep spyware and other malicous programs and code off of our computers. Windows 7 is a wonderful system.

1. Having a Intel and Manufacture logo is normal. To disable this, enter the BIOS Setup and disable QUICK Boot option. 2. Blinking process indicates the BIOS is searching for bootable device.. In this case, the bios might look at CD/DVD Rom first, and then Hard Drive.

Like Bluew said but one question Did you install W7 on one HD first and then from whithin install W7 onto the other HD??? or did you then disconnect the drive where W7 was already installed and then do a new installation onto the 2nd HD ??? peter If you find a posting or message from me offensive, inappropriate or disruptive, please ignore it. If you dont know how to ignore a posting complain to me and I will be only too happy to demonstrate :-) "Rodney Racoopon" wrote in message news:d55eae53-1daa-42ce-a4ad-d43d6e280a62...
