Boot issues in Windows 7
I'm currently a student at a school studying to take the CompTIA A+ exam, and was assigned to work in the school's tech service center for hands-on training. Last Thursday, I received an assignment to work on a HP G60-235DX laptop that runs Windows 7 Home Premium. The issue reported is that the laptop wouldn't boot fully. I confirmed it, as when it boots, it gets to where you first see the mouse pointer and then stops booting. So I tried using the laptop's Recovery Console to reset it to factory settings after backing up the user's files. Unfortunately, whenever I press the key to enter the Recovery Console (F11), it instead takes me to the Advanced Boot Options menu (And before you ask, no, there wasn't a "Last Known Good Configuration" option available.). So I contacted the owner to see if she had the installation media that came with the laptop. When she said that she did not, I asked my instructor how to proceed, and he handed me a Windows 7 Ultimate disc so that I could try Startup Repair, and use the Command Prompt to run bootrec.exe, which in turn stated that everything had been completed successfully, yet the computer failed to boot, continuing the actions stated above. Now I have a new issue, making things go from bad to worse. When I ran Startup Repair a second time, it gave me an error message stating that it had found a problem that it couldn't repair, but failed to give any details as to what the error was. Thinking it was an issue with the Startup Repair option, I restarted the computer and tried again. Only this time, when the computer boots, it goes immediately into Startup Repair, displays the same error, and it restarts. It even goes into Startup Repair when the disk isn't inserted. I searched the forums, and found a similar topic, which recommended running chkdsk through the Command Prompt, along with the /f /r /b switches, which is running as I type this. In case this does not work, I need help in repairing the computer, and my instructor's being no help at all, simply giving me articles covering the exact same procedure. Any timely assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I guess nobody bothered to make recovery disks for the machine?
