Boot Problems:
While booting my very old computer (1999), nothing happens and I'm getting the message "Remove disks or other media, press any key to restart". There is no disk to remove and when i press any key all i get is the same message all ovcer again. I have been saving and will be prepared to purchase another computer in a couple months, I was hoping this one would survive long enough. Now I'm afraid I lost everything. Any help out there for me?!! (Running on windows xp home edition) 1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi Getsbetterandbetter, That sounds like the BIOS is having trouble finding the hard drive. Judging by the age of the PC and the symptoms, I'd guess your hard drive has failed (11 years is a GREAT life for a HDD). Since this is all prior to Windows, there isn't anything I can provide to assist. I'd contact the computer manufacturer or a local computer repair shop. Hope this helps!Cody C Microsoft Answers Support Engineer Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
