Bluetooth Peripheral Device
Hi I have recently performed the installation of Vista SP1 to my HP TX1250ea laptop. I am now getting an error message saying that the driver for "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" is missing. When you try and install an updated driver, it fails. I am also now unable to connect to my desktop PC via the ethernet connection and wonder if the two are related - ie network adapter driver problem? The error dislog box says that the problem is caused by the network adapter. I have used the HP download website to update all the installed drivers, but this does not cure the problem. The hardware ID is shown as:- BTHENUM\{db1d8f12-95f3-402c-9b97-bc504c9a55c4}_LOCALMFG&000f Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers Nick

Hi Nick, Thank you for posting. I did a research on your problems. First, the hardware ID BTHENUM\{db1d8f12-95f3-402c-9b97-bc504c9a55c4}_LOCALMFG&000f is your Bluetooth device. As you said When you try and install an updated driver, it fails, I suggest you download and install the driver from HP official website directly. For your convenience: HP Pavilion tx1250ea Notebook PC drivers http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3467448 Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Second, the connection issue may be caused by an incorrect IP address settings, could you please run IPCONFIG /ALL on both computers and post the results on the forum? Thanks. In addition, hope the following link can help you. File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/library/bb727037.aspx Thanks.

I have checked with HP and it is not a hardware problem. The laptop has gone through several Windows and HP updates but the problem is still there. Can anyone help please???

this appears to be a common problem caused by Microsoft Windows VistaI have a Samsung notebook with the same errorhardware id : BTHENUM\{db1d8f12-95f3-402c-9b97-bc504c9a55c4}_LOCALMFG&000fIt is not a Samsung hardware fault, just like yours is not a HP fault. Vista is at fault. again.

Hi Nick, Do you have a phone connected via Bluetooth? When Windows pairs with a Bluetooth device, it looks for a driver for each service that device offers. Some of these services are custom and Windows has no driver inbox and Windows Update has no driver. Many of these custom services can be safely ignored. I know thats not a good solution and we are actively investigating. I would say {db1d8f12-95f3-402c-9b97-bc504c9a55c4} is on the safe to ignore list. This error should not be related to your Ethernet issues. Cheers, Kristina [MSFT]

Hi Julio,This hardware ID above is for a Bluetooth Sync Service on a Nokia phone connected to your PC with a Cambridge Silicon Radio Bluetooth dongle.I recommend installing Nokia's PC Suite software (US Download: http://www.nokiausa.com/A41423655). It may not get rid of the missing hardware IDs, but, if you can sync your phone with your PC after installing the software you can safely ignore these two driver not found errors. We realize that simply ignoring errors is not a good solution and we are working towards a better one.Cheers,Kristina

I find these problems are easier to understand if you choose device manager view devices by connection. I have two Vista 32 bit x86 PCs, and two bluetooth dongles, one old and one brand new. I bought the new one because drivers were so often a problem to find and to configure, although the old one did work on XP once you found the elaborate manual install procedures. Unfortunately, the new one is just like the old one, just a higher version in a smaller package. The parent USB device is CSR Bluetooth Radio, from Cambridge Silicon Radio (bought by Widcomm), and it has children: 1) Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) #8 2) Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI) #8 a) Standard Modem over Bluetooth link #7 (my cell phone in range) 3) Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator a) Bluetooth Peripheral Device (!), no driver selected, Hardware ID BTHENUM\{db1d8f12-95f3-402c-9b97-bc504c9a55c4}_LOCALMFG&000a BTW, I recall on the XP manual setup that the presence of Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator was a sign that it was not configured right. I think there should be a Bluetooth FTP device to my cell phone, at least, in addition to the modem and PAN, and perhaps stubs for the other Bluetooth capabilities. Currently, the configuration does not work with the modem on the phone. Some bloggers say the Widcomm drivers do not support the old CSR chips, perhaps because they are being sold in huge numbers without license fees back to Widcomm. I do not know for sure. Any help getting these to work would be doubly great for me!

The db1d8f12-95f3-402c-9b97-bc504c9a55c4 service cannot be used by the PC and there are no drivers available for it. It is safe to ignore this error. To ignore the error, open the phone's Bluetooth properties, select the services tab, and unselect this service. CSR and Widcomm are not affiliated. Widcomm was purchased by Broadcom in 2004.

The problem is discussed in this post. Solution: Deselect the service.

Hello, I've had the same problem posted above for a few days. I spent several hours trying to fix this issue and read many posts, and none had a simple and clear answer (although one of them did provide me the clue that I needed to fix this problem). I think I know exactly what is happening (I don't have another hour or two, to investigate and make sure that what I say here is correct, so anybody please feel free to investigate more and correct any misstatements I make); regardless of my whether I got the "why" correct, I'm convinced I got the "how" correct: There fix for this problem, thankfully, is very simple: you aren't missing any drivers! That is why you can't find/install the correct driver. The operating system simply got confused by the fact that you have some bluetooth pairings saved in your bluetooth configuration. My understanding is the the "bluetooth peripheral device" is your buetooth-enable mobile phone, or BT headphones, or whatever bluetooth device you have paired. The solution, in short, is to remove all paired devices from your bluetooth profile; then the system will figure everything out itself. You will have pair your BT devices again. This is the process I used (from memory; I won't be able to provide all the details that I would otherwise provide), and I suspect that many other paths exist to obtain the same results; however, this was the one that worked for me and it may help someone. Before I list the steps I followed, I should state that I have a HP Pavillion dv6700 laptop, and that my bluetooth is built-in. If I go to my hp website, in the support section for download/drivers, there is a download for bluetooth under the "network" category. It doesn't say "drivers", it said "Software Support for HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology (Microsoft Windows Vista)", but I think that it includes drivers. It definitely includes a bunch of bluetooth-related software and was a very long install. If you use a bluethooth dongle, then you will have to modify the procedure below to fit your situation. First of all, my problem began when my computer froze and I to power it off without shutting down first. When I rebooted, I got messages that windows was trying to find drivers for my hardware (I had five items listed as missing drivers in my device manager; several were not bluetooth-related). 1) I went to HP's page and downloaded all the drivers I needed. 2) I went to device manager and deleted all the devices that had the error messages, then I installed the drivers from HP. 3) While the Bluetooth drivers and software was being installed, it opened the "Bluetooth Settings" window and asked me to change any settings that I wanted. Both of my bluetooth-enabled phones were listed (the ones that I have paired with my laptop). 3.1) NOTE: If you want to access the "Bluetooth Settings" window, you find it in "Control Panel"/"Bluetooth Devices", then click on the "Bluetooth Settings" button that appears on the top bar. My control panel is in "Classic View". 4) I did not delete my already-paired devices (this, I think, was where I went wrong; if I had deleted them here, there may not have been any problems). 5) I think that I rebooted. Regardless, under the "device manager" I now only had one device listed as missing its driver (the other devices had been fixed by installing the driver packages I downloaded from HP). The device that was missing its driver was (you guessed it): "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" 6) I deleted the device and rebooted, to no avail. When I re-stared windows, it would try, in vain, to find/install a driver for this device. =========================== The solution I used (3 steps): A) I went to the "Bluetooth Settings" window (see 3.1 above) and deleted all the paired devices. I actually had to reboot once as some of these devices would not let themselves be deleted easily. I also had to be patient, as it took about over a minute to delete one of them. B) I deleted the "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" from the "Device Manager" window. C) I rebooted. Voilá. No missing device. No message to re-install driver. My computer is "at peace", and so am I. (Please note that the drivers [in this case downloaded from HP site] were already installed on my system) =========================== My guess is that windows had junk left over from the previous bluetooth pairings and got confused and was trying to find drivers for them. I hope this helps you.

Were you able to solve it now? try to contact HP customer service if they have the available driver you need. If not, try searching bluetooth peripheral device treiber download site. They have a good list of various hardware drivers and might have what you're looking for.
