Blue screen of death after virus and installation of new virus protection, computer also crashes down in safe mode.
My computer got a virus (http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/933192-fake-avg-security-has-taken.html) that snuck through the AVG Free anti-virus software. I removed the virus using Malwares and also AVG afterwards. I decided to uninstall AVG and install Avast, half way through installing Avast my computer crashed and when it restarted I got the Blue Screen of Death. It restarted again before I had a chance to write down the numbers, it just keeps restarting itself over and over. I can't enter safe mode because when I do this, my computer opens but after about 30 sec it turns off completely and always does this in safe mode. How can I fix this problem? Thanks a lot.1 person needs an answerI do too

Instead of "safe mode" select "Disable automatic restart on system failure". The blue screen will stay on so you will be able to read the error code.

Thank you for your help. When I turned on my computer today the BSOD had disappeared and I've not seen it since?! While it was not there I took the opportunity to run my antivirus and malware which picked up and quarantined lots of infections. One of which it couldn't delete (and I can't either) a file called lluzdzlq.dat although it says it was created in 2004 (and I've not even had this computer that long). I also backed up all my data. Windows however told me that "it had encountered a serious problem.." and my computer is unusually slow. Even the internet is really really slow with both firefox and IE and I have a reasonably good internet connection. Is there anything else you'd recommend I do?

Are there any unusual processes running while it stalls? (Task manager - 2nd tab "Processes")If there are, the antivirus might have missed something. If not, the infection-disinfection might have damaged something. You can try with another antivirus as well (most have trial editions), and make sure you have the latest Windows updates.

Kiwigirl83, this is Keoni Chavez, Junior Community Manager with AVG. I'm sorry to hear about your computer problems; have they been resolved?
