Blue screen after virus
Hello All, I have a Dell Precision T1500 with Windows 7 Professional x64. I wanted to update my virus scanner to a newer version, so I uninstalled, not knowing a virus was lurking to grab my system when it was defenseless. I booted a virus scanner rescue disk, did an entire scan and removed the virus(es). Now I am able to start windows, get to the login screen, but when I press my name and the screen wants to show the desktop, I get a blue screen ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY. This is in normal mode, but also in safe mode. I did an analysis of the crashdump file and see this: Windows 7 Kernel Version 7600 MP (8 procs) Free x64 Product: WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTS Built by: 7600.16617.amd64fre.win7_gdr.100618-1621 Machine Name: Kernel base = 0xfffff800`0340c000 PsLoadedModuleList = 0xfffff800`03649e50 Debug session time: Thu Dec 16 09:12:30.073 2010 (UTC + 1:00) System Uptime: 0 days 0:00:48.212 Loading Kernel Symbols ............................................................... ................................................................ ................... I also have the unpacked files from the driver, is there any way to replace them manually without having to reinstall my whole system? Thanks, Roland.

I think your only option will be to re-install Windows 7. I would use a utility that cleans the hard drive thoroughly to ensure there are no remnents of the virus left lurking on the drive. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, To troubleshoot this kind of BSOD issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;OfferProPhone#faq607 I hope the problem will be resolved soon. Thank you for your time and cooperation! Hi, No way to get it working, I backed up all data through a linux live cd, cleared the disk with an disk erase utility (write something random to every block of the disk) and did a reinstall. After the drivers, the first thing I installed was a good virusscanner and updated it, then all Windows updates, then attached the external drive with my backup and did a full virusscan of the data twice with a reboot in between. After that I started to reassemble all the software and data. I think it's the only way unfortunately! Roland.
