Blue screen - graphics card faulty?
HiI'm fixing a pc for boy in our road. He's had multiple issues, all but one now fixed after a clean install of Windows XP. However, the pc is still crashing to a blue screen.I've searched online for hours and can't find the same error message: " A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to previen damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.Technical information:*** STOP: 0X00000008E (OXC0000005, 0X8054B2B2, 0XB8E37B40, 0X00000000)Beginning dump of physical memoryPhysical memory dump complete.Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance. " Any suggestions gratefully received... My suspicion is the GPU is faulty but i don't have another one to try. Thanks 1 person needs an answerI do too

My suspicion is the GPU is faulty but i don't have another one to try. Thanks ==================================No guarantees but I would suspect a hardware issue...possibly a failing RAM module, a faulty power supply...maybe even a bad video adapter. The following article may be worth a look:(315335) "STOP 0x0000008e" errormessage during Windows XP setuphttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/315335If you discover the fix...please update this thread.Volunteer J - MS-MVP - Digital Media Experience - Notice_This is not tech support_I am a volunteer - Solutions that work for me may not work for you - ***Proceed at your own risk***
