I've read that sometimes the blue globe on the Vista networking icon will disappear even though your connection is okay. I have a super simple setup (just a DSL modem and one computer) and every 1-2 weeks the blue dot will suddenly disappear for a few seconds. I'm not sure if it's just a Vista thing, or my modem or even the phone line. I told the ISP and they said to ignore it.
