Blue Screen when using Restore Previous Versions on Windows 7 Enterprise
Hello, We are starting the Deployment of Windows 7 here in my company. It is working fine, but the other day I needed to recover some deleted files and folders from my file server. I right-clicked the desired folder and then clicked on Restore Previous Versions. Picked the desired date and then the Explorer Window opened with the contents of the Folder that date. Just selecting the files or folders, it appears the Blue Screen with error RDR_FILE_SYSTEM . Tested on four different machines with Win 7 and all had the same problem. In Vista works normally. Did anybody have this problem before? thanks in advance, regards, Joao

Hi Andre, thank you for your reply. I installed the update, but the issue was not fixed. One thing I could find out was that the issue only happens when i select one exe file or a folder that contains exe files. I can restore docx, xlsx, pdf , folders with those files etc... but when I select one exe, the blue screen comes up. regards, Joao

ok, please upload the dmp files from the folder C:\Windows\Minidump to your Skydrive [1] (copy the dmp files first to your desktop, otherwise you can't upload them) and post a link here, so that I can look at the dumps. The dump shows a undefined RDBSS_BUG_CHECK value (baad0073). But is shows a (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 - Access violation. So a wrong memory was used. Check your RAM for errors please."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

But this issue occurs on 4 different computers. This dump that I posted is from a Hyper-v virtual Machine. Here is the minidump of a physical one: http://cid-4128b2a160906cb9.office.live.com/self.aspx/Win7BlueScreen/072210-14445-01Physical.dmp When you say "check your RAM", what do you mean? Event Viewer? thanks, joao

Looking at the physical minidump file shows that the following driver is involved in the crash: PGPfsfd.sys The PGPfsfd.sys is dated Feb. 26, 2008 so may not be fully compatible with Windows 7. The PGPfsfd.sys appears to be a driver from PGP Desktop. You could try updating the PGP software that is installed to the latest version that is listed as compatible with Windows 7.

I upgraded to the last version and the issue persists. new dump: http://cid-4128b2a160906cb9.office.live.com/self.aspx/Win7BlueScreen/072310-22698-01physical.dmp This is the only computer that has PGP Desktop installed, all other 3 Win 7 computers doesn't have PGP and the blue screen appears. All 4 computers (one virtual) are different hardware, not the same image installation. Can't you reproduce the issue? I put some screen shots reproducing the issue. http://cid-4128b2a160906cb9.office.live.com/browse.aspx/Win7BlueScreen/Screen%5E_Shots Step1-Pick a directory and click "Restore Previous Versions" Step2-Pick a Date Step3-Just select one directory that has exe files in it. Step4-Blue Screen. thank you, Joao

In this case, contact the Microsoft Support. This looks like a Windows 7 bug."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Could you also please try the Sp1 Beta? Maybe it is fixed. If it is fixed, read the list of included fixes, maybe you see which fix you have to request."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/
