Blue Screen error then auto restart. But only at my home, nowhere else
I have an acer Laptop that works perfectly Everywhere , EXCEPT at home. It constantly (several times a day!! Flashes up a Blue Screen error message (which goes too soon to really get any codes etc.) then restarts.I have a Speedtouch 585v6 Router, and my ISP is pipex. Needless to say , each blames the other. This happens CONSTANTLY. It must be one of these 2 that is at fault though, as it works PERFECTLY at my sister's house , my brother's house etc. etc. Although Microsoft error reporting states heat, Drivers and software as the culprit. This has been happening for some months !!I am desperate to resolve this. Can anyone help ??1 person needs an answerI do too

Hello Anne Cav It could be a driver right enough Turn off automatic rebooting Right-click My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Startup and Recovery/Settings. Under System Failure, uncheck the Automatically restart check box You will then get a BSOD (which will stay)with error message which will help identify the problem. Please post the message such as STOP 0x00000000A IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUALand any drivers named ( *****.sys) Also Have a look in these places for errors1. Right click My Computer / Properties / Hardware / Device Manager.Look for "Yellow" errors2. Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance / Admin Tools / Event Viewer / System.Look for "Red" errors. Double click on error.Take a note of the Event ID and also the Source and post them back. .

thanks a lot. Will do that. But surely it can only be the router driver?

That error would point to a driver error, but threr is not enough information to identify which one.I am hoping the BSOD will name the driver, but you cannot count on that. While you are waiting for the BSOD to occur, try reinstalling the drivers for the router. It should have come with a CD containing the drivers..

OK, try this first Search your system for NDIS.sys You should find it in both of the following C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 C:\Windows\system32\drivers Find NDIS.sys in C:\Windows\system32\drivers Rename it to NDISold.sys Find NDIS.sys in C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 Right click it/copy Go back to C:\Windows\system32\drivers and paste it in here See if that fixes the problem.
