Block Content Sharing

This may be a stupid question but

If we have two users.

  • User A who is enabled for conferencing features and content sharing.
  • User B who is restricted to only basic IM&P.

The experience we observe is that (by using meet now for example) users attending a meeting hosted by user B can only IM as expected.

All users joining the meeting hosted by user A, such as user B, can now share their desktop etc. This is an issue

Is there anyway to ensure user B is never able to content share? (No matter whose meeting they join)

Regards

Al

... I don't think so through the policy, but perhaps on the workstation itself.  This will disable whiteboard and sharing throughout the entire app.  I haven't tried it myself just yet.

For Lync 2013 try creating this REG_DWORD and setting the value to 1.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\DisableCollaborationApps

For Lync 2010:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator\DisableCollaborationApps

Thanks. Though it looks like it might have been replaced with DisableDataConferencing registry key

Hi Alistair,

you can check by restricting participant policy in user B conferencing policy settings.
