Block Autoplay
I have already blocked Autoplay for all media including CD's and DVD's as a security measure. Will installing the update KB971029 increase security or open up Autoplay for CD's and DVD's? 1 person needs an answerI do too

It basicly protecting against Autorun in romavable devices such as flash memory. If you haven't block Autorun for them then it will block it. It won't block CD or DVD, only flash memory and other external storage.Have a look at:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971029

Thank you for your reply. I believe I have alerady blocked everything (USB, Cd, etc) (e.g., KB967715http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715) without this update but I was considering installing KB971029 anyway. The previous Autoplay blocking fixes in the past have been less than 100% reliable and I was wondering if this was yet another "improvement". I also wanted to make sure that installing this would not somehow change what I have already done and end up activating Autoplay for CD's and DVD's (since I don't know exactly how the update works).

This update shouldn't have side affect, but it is good idea to apply update and do a checking to make sure. The good thing is that for example if you change policy to allow AutoPlay , this will block autoplay for USB driver. It enhance preview Autoplay blocking update and it apply for user that don't apply any policy to block Autoplay and this will block Autoplay for external drivers. Apply it won't hurt, I suggest to apply it just in case .
