I have a few problems, but will start with the pressing one. I am getting a blank (black) screen, but I can see through to the desktop. I have try repeatedly to start in safe mode, but no luck. I do get the opening window (which is orange now) but will not go into safety mode. I have rebooted about 8 times now and still nothing. I am not sure if this has any thing to do with the other problems I am having, but I have been getting for a week now all kinds of error messages, such as "application error, "fatal system error" and "memory can not be read" with the following errors 0x004068a8, 0x12da6013, 0xc000012d, c00021a, 0x12e06013, 0x000000004 there has been others. But to many for me to try to correct, plus computer freezes all the time (the mouse moves, but no response) and I am unable to shut down, so have to just shut down power. So if any one knows how I can correct the first problem & get into safe mode and then if any info on why I am getting so so many error messages. I do have virus/malware programs & am up to date. Getting into Safe Mode isn't going to help. From your description of the symptoms you have severe hardware failure. It could be the hard drive, the video card, the motherboard, etc. There is no way of telling from here. You can troubleshoot this yourself or take the computer to a competent local professional.
