I got new HP Pavilion g6-2244sa with windows 8 last week, yesterday pop up window appears and suggested a new update. After starting the update, it suggested, it will take one day to finish the update. so, i left my pc on for a day and next day black screen appears. I don't know what to do next. how can i proceed further, should i restart the pc or should i have to wait for a while?

Please try to restart your computer and check the result of update installation. If there are any failures, install them manually.

This is impacting my 8.1 laptop as well. I installed 6 updates about 30 minutes ago, and now the screen is completely black after the boot screen. I have already tried hitting the recovery command prompt and doing the

bootrec /fixmbr

with no success. same issue, black screen. HELP
