This happens when the graphics adapter and monitor resolution settings do no match. it is to be expected. Is the monitor recognized correctly in Devices and Printers? Thereis only .inf file for VGA input. Digital input is in the EDID information stored in the monitor.Select use the monitors scaling. It's not a scaling issue. It's in the nVidia advanced options view.LCD's like the native resolution settings (1440x900at 60Mhz) Win7 nVidia drivers seem to default @ 59Mhz.The user manual has the timings to set manually for other resolutions. Game modes will be limited to theresolutions in the game. If an older game, fullscreen will not look nice.ASUS P4PE-P4 Extreme 3.4gHz-2gb G.Skill PC3200-XPSP3:55gb-Win7RC:17gb-DATA:500gb-ASUS N6800GT

Hi,I would recommand you'd use the nvidia drivers from previous version of Windows, even installed in compatibility mode and run as administrator.

Hi shanksri88, According to Samsung's website, Samsung Syncmaster 732NW's recommended resolution is 1,440 x 900 pixels. For more information, please refer to 732NW Specifications. Thank you for your understanding. Regards, Linda

Hi,I see there are a few replies marked as answers, if none of them fixed your problem, I would say set the resolution display to 1440x900 and check the drivers for LCD and graphic adapter till a fix update shall be available.(you said that the LCD refresh rate is set to 75, does nvidia driver that you have support the refresh rate 75?)Regards

It's the monitor, it's the monitor, it's the monitor. There's nothing wrong with the computer. The monitor's digital information tells the8400GSwhat will work.1440x900 @ 59Hz~60HzConnect it via VGA, download the .inf from Samsung, update the monitor drivers from the monitor properties and change away. Download the user's manual also and read it.For digital connection:If you want a custom resolution, refer to the users manual for the resolution you want to create(specs with frequencies and timings)and add it through the advanced view, change resolution in the nVidia control. Otherwise, keep the 190.62 drivers with the resolution set at 1440x900 @ 59Hz for a beautiful display and a stable system.ASUS P4PE-P4 Extreme 3.4gHz-2gb G.Skill PC3200-XPSP3:55gb-Win7RC:17gb-DATA:500gb-ASUS N6800GT

Please go to Start(orb)-Devices and Printers and tell me what you see? Is your monitor shown there? Does it say SyncMaster 732NW or Generic PnP?Is the monitor connected via DVI or VGA cable? What have you attempted as a corrective action?Download this file from Samsung. Right click on it and select run as adminstrator. When it opens you will see a dialog box that ask you to choose a monitor to install. Select the 732NW or Generic Pnp at the top. Click ok and install. This is the monitor .inf file. Now check in devices and printers to see if it shows the monitor. Close out. Then attempt your display configuration ie. resolution/frequency.Monitor shown correctly? Borders gone at low resolution?ASUS P4PE-P4 Extreme 3.4gHz-2gb G.Skill PC3200-XPSP3:55gb-Win7RC:17gb-DATA:500gb-ASUS N6800GT

I realise this is a month old, but I had the exact same problem with my computer. The native resolution is 1680x1050 and when I played some old games at 1024x768, I noticed this massive black border around it. It sounds like the same problem. It turns out the driver was telling the graphics card to let the monitor perform the scaling required instead of doing it itself. This obviously didn't work and I was left with a big black border. If you open the NVIDIA Control Panel and go to Adjust desktop size and position, you'll see it talking about a resolution lower than the display's native resolution, set it to Use NVIDIA scaling and it will fix it. The setting appears to revert, but it seems to stick.Hope this helps, it fixed my problem.
