Black Screen on a Win 7 Pro-64 bits system (AMD64, 4 cores, 4 GB internal and 8 GB Patriot redyboost, 1TB HDD, updated GeForce 9600 GS)
Hi, With "sleep" turned off and "no screensaver", all ON, after few hours of not using my computer when I try to do something the display turns on for about 1 sec and then completely BLACK with NO access whatsoever possible (no cursor, mouse, etc.) however, the computer works and is still on. I then need to manually and blindly too by using the Win key, right arrow, etc. can actually access the Shutdown button. Afterwards, press then the Power button and everything becomes normal until again a longer period of not using it would bring back my "friendly" BLACK SCREEN. Any sugestion would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I don't know 100% but this seamed to be visible after the last Windows update (December 2011)

I used to have same problem on my toshiba laptop with amd processor it took a bios upgrade to fix the problem. The workaround is Go to Control Panel -> (Mobile PC) -> Power Options -> Under Balanced choose change plan settings Choose Change advanced power settings Find Processor power management and change the minimum processor state from 5% to 100% for each On battery and Plugged in. Click Apply then OK

Thank you for your good intentions however, the mistake was mine... The 22" LCD Samsung monitor (3 yrs old only) died on me (it started to flicker BEFORE turning on the computer)... I have switched to another one and no problems anymore! Of course, I have tried everything else including your advice prior to that. :)
