Bitlocker won't resume after restart
I was installing bitlocker on a 2TB USB drive when the Windows 7 Ultimate machine restarted due to Windows Updates. Now everytime I restart, I get a dialog box stating,Encyption has been paused. There is a resume button, but pressing it changes the bar from yellow to green and back to yellow (ie still paused). Each time I press the resume button, I get the same three entries in the system event log: EventID 24577: Encryption of volume I: started. EventID 24583: Conversion worker thread for volume I: was started. EventID 24578: Encryption of volume I: stopped. I left it running all day, and it did not progress past 34.6%. Help please! Richard

Richard I have the exact same issue, except on a 3TB USB drive. Mine is stuck at 91.3% and also does the yellow to green and then back to yellow. It got interupted by a Windows Update reboot of all things after three days of encrypting. One thing I'm noticing is that before nearly the entire drive's space was being reserved by Bitlocker and now it's all available again.

I was hoping that it wouldn't be necessary to undo three days of encrypting, but thanks.

Hi, According the issue, I recommend that you may try to use command line to resume encryption. 1. Click Start button, move to All Programs -> Accessories, click Command Prompt. 2. Type manage-bde -resume [<Drive>] in Command Prompt, press Enter. If the issue persists, as a workaround, I recommend that you may decrypt the volume the encrypt it again via Manage-bde: on and Manage-bde: on.
