Bitlocker prevents accessing SD cards
I have Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 546. It came with a factory installed multifunction card reader. All the other card slots work okay, but for nearly a year now I can't read SD cards. The problem started arbitrarily, obviously Home Premium is not supposed to be using Bitlocker. I haven't tried to use an encrypted drive, or enable bitlocker. Any SD card that is inserted shows a volume with an error message to insert a disk. Checking event properties shows: Encrypted volume check: Volume information on K: cannot be read. ErrorCode 0xc00000a Source: Bitlocker-Driver EventID: 24620 I've tried making sure the Bitlocker service (BDESVC) is disabled, restarted, tried different cards; all with the same result. I can only read them in a device hooked up by a USB cable.

Hi, May I know if you installed Acronis software on the computer? Please check more details in Event Viewer. Meanwhile, I suggest you update the latest driver from manufacturer's website manually. http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19 And, you can test the issue in Safe Mode. If the issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode, then try clean boot. Niki Han TechNet Community Support
