I came back from France with an External hard drive (seagate). In France I used Bitlocker with a code to open the drive. Also I didn't save the recovery key in another flash or USB key. Now I'm trying to open the drive but it won't let me enter the code at all- but goes directly to the screen wich tells me that if I forgot my password I should use my recovery key which is inside the drive. I know my password and it's very simple, but there is no option to enter it. I tried to open it in several computers in my company, always the same problem. All the coputers are with windows 7 with useable Bitlocker. How can I get to the screen which asks me for the password? my windows: win 7 Uitimate Thank you in advance..

Hi, When you encrypted the external hard drive, did it ask you to save your recovery key or files? Was any change made before this issue occurring? I test this way .but its not worked. when i right click in my HDD for unlock drive, show me This massage: Unlock this using your recovery kay if you don't remember your password or you don't have your smart card.you can use your recovery key to unlock the drive. your recovery kay was created when Bitlocker was first up.the recovery key might have been saved or printed.or you might need to get it from your system administretor (depending on your company's security policy). But i know my password and I remember. and how can i contact company's security policy ? Thanks

Hi, Based on the current situation, please try the following workaround. 1. Restart the computer without the external hard drive plugged. 2. After booting, plug your removal drive. 3. Click Start -> typr cmd in the search box -> Right click cmd and choose Run as administrator. 4. In the elevated command windows, type the following command. manage-bde F: -status and look under "Key Protectors" to ensure that "Password" appears. manage-bde F: -unlock –pw and type your password to unlock the drive.
