Bitlocker not available on removable drives.
I have an issue using bitlocker on a windows server2008R2 machine. The issue is that I cannot encrypt removable drives from the server. However if I encrypt the removable drive on another PC I can unlock the drive like normal and use it without issue. When I goto the manage bitlocker page none of the removable drives show up as being available to encrypt but all of the onboard drives show up to encrypt. Also the context menu when you right click on the drive does not have the option to bitlocker. I've tried removing the feature and adding it back and I'm still having an issue. I'm wondering if anyone else has ever seen this. I've run bitlocker successfuly on every other server I have without issue. This just so happens to be my backup server and I encrypt my removable drives. Any help would be great.

I believe the first step requires that the drive be formatted in NTFS instead of FAT32 like most USB drives, etc... from there, you seem like you'll probably figure it out! :) But if you need more information, Richard MacDonald did a handy write up, here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/richard_macdonald/archive/2008/10/06/3132805.aspx NuAngelDon't forget, if you find the help you need, click the "Propose as Answer" link at the bottom of the post containing the solution!
