Bitlocker menu not opening

Hello,

I want to setup Bitlocker for my harddrive. When I try to open the Bitlocker settings menu I get the following error:

I cannot get to the menu. What could cause this?

I'm thankful for any hints.

Kind Regards

Pascal

Hi,

Did you just enable/re-enable bitlocker feature? Similar cases could be resolved by giving it another reboot and check. It requires 2 reboots to finish the installation/enable.

Make sure the "Shell Hardware Detection" service is started and set to automatic on the system as well

According to services.msc it is running and set to automatic.

I had Bitlocker enabled but then disabled it again a while later. Since then I have done many reboots. I suspect I will have to reinstall Windows to get it to work properly again. But I will probably wait for Windows 10 to do so...

Hi,

Did you ever install Intel Rapid Storage driver, even by accident? Some user reported that it can cause BitLocker to become confused like this. And also make sure your computer are being partitioned correctly for use with BitLocker. In order for a PC to be able to boot, the boot manager and boot files cannot be encrypted. For this reason, when BitLocker is being used, we need to reside on a partition that is not encrypted by BitLocker (350M system reserved partition in Windows 8.1).

If this is not the case, I guess we could do as your way.
