Bitlocker key needed at each boot, after first Unlock
Hello, I think i have a strange behavior with Bitlocker on my Windows 7 Ent. machine. In fact, after entering the recovery password at the boot to unlock my operating sytem drive, the OS starts and everything works fine. If i type the command "manage-bde -status C:", the result displays that the drive is unlocked. The problem is that for each boot, the recovery password is asked. To complete the procedure, i have to enter the recovery password AND after suspend and reactivate the protection... Is this a normal comportement ? I think i have just to enter the recovery password and it's enough... For information, i'm trying to simulate a disaster recovery: PC1 is broken, i take its HDD and put it in PC2 (there is no suspend step done...) regards, Lylian

Login to Windows , go to control panel and first suspend bitlocker protection. Shut down your computer. Go in BIOS and make sure HDD is first in the boot order. Login to windows and noe resume protection. After this you will not have to bitlocker recovery password everytime you boot your system. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449438(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_examplesosrec http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449438(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_HSRequirements Manoj Sehgal

Problem solved I had to update my TPM information on the new computer (because a new HDD with new keys is present). So, Suspend and reactivate BitLocker is not the solution. IN MY CASE, To have to the right information in my TPM chip, i have to decrypt and re-encrypt the computer. That's all. Lylian PS: Thanks for your reply Manoj :-)
