Can anyone please tell me the logic of this forum?

Someone asks a question (without giving any background info like when does it happen, how does his setup look like...) and some suggestion comes in. Then, instead of replying, nothing happens. Finally some moderator comes along and marks the suggestion as answer. Now comes another thread - same problem, same missing background info, same suggestion or (like in this case, link to an old, unapproved one) ... still no reaction, same mod reaction (=proposed as answer though no feedback came in).

This leads nowhere.

Thread openers: stay with your thread, give feedback before moderators take over.

Moderators: reconsider. I am part of many forums (100,000 and more contributions) and nowhere but here, do I see this no-feedback->"proposed as answer"-behavior so often.

Hi Ronald

Thanks for your suggestion and attention to TechNet Forum.

T. Kujala's reply hasn't been marked as an answer yet, as you mentioned that unfortunately not every thread opener comes back and give feedback then marks answer for us, so we propose these suggestions (opener will get notification Email) and hope it might bring them back. In the other hand these reactions also was designed to help other users getting helpful information efficiently if opener doesnt come back. At the same time we have mechanism about unpropose unmark, we are glad to hear different voice from users.

Again, Thanks for your suggestion and attention to TechNet Forum.

Regards,

D. Wu

The previous thread provides you with how to reset your bitlocker pin.  This error ""Resseting your protector failed for unknown reason. Please try the action again." comes up when you try to reset the pin.  What troubleshooting needs to be done to figure out why this error is coming up?  I'm in a corporate environment with all devices running Win 7 and we have not seen this issue before until now.  Searching on the web has only provided the basic how to set your bitlocker pin, not how to fix it when you try and get the message.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just ran across this error myself.  The problem in my case was someone got into the BIOS and turned off the TPM.  When there is no TPM, the only way to authenticate using BitLocker is via a USB key.  Or typing in the recovery code every time.

While you are in the BitLocker management, suspend the protection, then boot into the BIOS and turn the TPM back on.  Then when you are back in Windows, Resume Protection, then you should be able to reset your PIN and the world should be well again.

Hope this helps someone more than the responses above.
