Hello I have a question regarding BitLocker. The scenario goes like this: I have a machine with a single hard disk. This hard disk has 3 partitions: System Reserved, C: (OS), and D: (DATA). C: and D: partitions are encrypted with BitLocker and the key is stored in Active Directory and the machine's TPM. I want to format and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows on C: partition while keeping all my data on D: safe and encrypted with BitLocker. If I was to do this, when I boot into the newly installed Windows, will I be able to access my data on D: drive? If I will be able to, how do I go about accessing it? Any help if greatly appreciated.

Hi, Based on my knowledge, A BitLocker volume has a clear-text BPB much like FAT and NTFS. The BPB is located at the first 0x54 bytes of the first sector of the volume. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/si_team/archive/2006/10/26/detecting-bitlocker.aspx So you could reinstall the OS and use the pervious password to decrypt the D partition.
