Bitlocker Encyrpted External Drive is corrupted

So my 2 TB seagate external had ~1 GB of data stored on it.  I shared some of this data with a friend, and she returned my external hard drive, my computer wouldn't recognize it.  At first, it was giving me the old "Drive E:\ is not accessible."  Now it's asking me to format it.  I did some usual googling, and found out repair-bde exists.  Unfortunately, repair-bde is asking me to have a 2 TB output volume to recover this.  I didn't buy the 2 TB external hard drive with another spare 2 TB lying around, I bought it because I was running out of disk space.

So here's the question: is there any way to repair the bitlocker encyrption on my external hard drive WITHOUT buying another 2 TB+ hard drive to store it?  I have the password and recovery key generated from the initial encryption process, which went off without a hitch.  I have been able to use the drive successfully in the past, but now it has decided to lose all my data.

Hi,

According to your description, this is not BitLocker problem. It's probably caused by data corruption when inject to your friend computer.

To fix this problem, when you inject the HDD to your computer, open its Properties and choose Error Checking.

As Roger answered, it's not the bitlocker problem. I strongly suspect that the drive itself is damaged or  failing. Start running 'Disk Error Check' or CHKDSK command and see if it may able to repair the drive for you. Else, using recovery programs is the only option to get back your data after which, you can format the drive and start using it from scratch.

Good luck!!
