Bitlocker - Windows 7 - Recover Key not found
Plese Help, all my data is lost. I'll describe the problem from the beginning. I have a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 Ultimate and 300GB HD, that's divided in two drives C: - 150 GB and E: - 150 GB. I also have WD external drive with 150 GB. I used the E: drive to put all my files, incluinding the outlook files, and it has around 15 GB of data. I backed up every day all my files to the WD external drive. On the WD external drive I had other files like music and photos, using almost 135Gb of total of 150GB of capacity. Both E: and WD external drive were Encrypted with Bitlocker. A few days ago, after backing up my files, I copied other files to the WD external drive (almost 4Gb), Every thing seems to be okay. I turn off the computer, and unpluged the WD external. On the next day, I pluggeg the WD external, and it opened the Bitlocker screen so I could insert my password, but it took a long time processing the information. After that, when I tried to enter in the WD external to see my files it says it was unacessable, "parameter error", and a lot of things like that. I tried to restart the computer, but nothing seems to solve the problem. Searching on the net I found in Microsoft Tech the repair-bde comand like, so i used it to try to repair the data in my WD external drive. The comand line used was:"repair-bde F: E: -rp 00000...." It started ok, but after say that valid metadata were found, it stopped with 2% of decripition. So I had to canceled it. At this moment my E: drive were also unacessable. I restarted the computer and, when I tried to unlock my E: drive it gave the message "Recovery Error: Error recovering drive E:. A recovery key wasn't in this drive" I tried every thing. manage-dbe -protetectors -get E: says "Error: No protector key found". I also tried repair-dbe, but after reading all the metadata, it says it could complete the task. On the prompt (cmd), when type E: it says "the metadata in the drive is not valid. You can attempt to repare the drive to restore acess". It tried chkdsk, but it couldn't execute the taks cause the system is RAW. That's my big problem. Please help, because all my files, those of a life time are on the E: drive and on the WD external drive. I'm desparated. The E: is the most important drive to be restored, but I would be very greatful if a could restore both. I have the Recory Key .txt file. Note: As I'm brazilian and my Windows 7 is in portuguese, same error messages were freely translated by me. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I noticed that the hard drive became to the RAW data, to recover the raw data, you may need to use some third party tools. If the data is very important, I kindly recommend you to contact the Recovery company for help. Hi Dale Qiao, The hard drive became RAW not because of any problem, but because it was bitlocker encrypted. I solve my problem, not in best way but I solved it. On the WD External Drive, after unlocking using the bitlocker password ask by windows 7 (remember that on the WD I could unlock but not have acess to the drive), I ran the prompt (cmd, as administrator) and used chkdsk F: /f /r. It took a lot of time running, but after that, I could acess my WD external drive (F:). This process damage my outlook file, but I could recover it using scanpst.exe (that comes with Office 2007). As the WD was my backup drive, I recover most of my files (lost just three days of emails and documents). After that I took of the bitlocker encryption. Now my external drive works perfect. As I had no answer or help (even the Microsoft phone support didn´t know how do solve the problem, and I´had recover most of my files, I just formatted my E:. It took not more than 20 seconds. Than I restored my files from the WD external drive. Now I am bitlocker free, and will never use it again. It´s horrible because I just bought the Windows 7 Ultimate version because of that. Ill try to find something better, that does not block acess to the drive when it has a writing error, or a bad sector, etc. Because, when it does that it turns impossible to solve the problem. Conclusion: On a bitlocker protected drive, any partition error, writing error, or bad sector, etc., causes drive to be unacessable, and can cause all data lost.
