Hello All! I'm hoping that someone out there can help me :) I've now spent about 30+ hrs trying to research and try to correct the problem myself... but I'm having absolutely no luck!!! To start off... I have a 2009-10 Lenovo W500 that came with the Windows Vista operating system. Lenovo mailed me an upgrade disk converting it to a Windows 7 Home Premium after a few months of use. I had quite a few problems during conversion, but after 2+ years it seems that I've worked most of them out. It wasn't easy! But at last I'm trying to conquer this last one by backing up my computer on an external hard drive before it dies and I'm really screwed! I believe that I'm going on 800+ days with no backup, which can't be good! So, here is the situation and the steps that I've taken so far... 1.Clicked Start 2.Clicked Control Panel 3.Clicked Backup and Restore 4. Plugged in External Hard Drive (E.) 5. In "backup Section" I click on Backup Now 6. It starts to Back up on top section"Backup in Progress", then little blue flag with popup on bottom bar comes up stating "Check Your Backup, The last Backup did not complete successfully. Click to troubleshoot. 7. If you click on the prompt "More Information" on top of restore page. It reads, " Windows Backup failed while determinig libraries location of one of the users included in backup. Details:BitLocker Drive encription cannot be used because critical BitLocker system files are missing or corrupted. Use Windows Startup Repair to restore these files to your computer. Show Details: Error Code: 0x81000031 8. After plenty of trial and error... I finally ended up finding that upgrade disk that Lenovo sent me with the Windows 7 info on it. I entered the disk and turned on the the computer. When the screen came up to install Win 7 or Repair, I clicked on repair and when next screen came up I activated the Windows Startup Repair. It ran for a brief time and said there was no problems. 9. So, i tried steps again... still same outcome. 10. After further reading and confusion, I ended up on a thread that said to enable and disable this program on the command prompt screen as an administrator. C:\Windows\System32\REAgentC.exe /disable Remove (E.) drive- Backup C:\Windows\System32\REAgentC.exe /enable Install (E.) drive -Backup Well, still no change!!! It seems that I'm stuck in a glitch!!! Somehow something got qued that I'm supposed to have BitLocker encryption, But it's not even available with my version-Home Premium (Just the Ultimate Version). Also, there are no files supporting the program on my computer. I can't go through the control panel to turn anything off or on! Also, it seems that all my files are open and available to copy or view that are on my hard drive. I would vey much appreciate it if someone can PLEASE get this BitLocker program off my Computer!!! (Or at least get it to work properly!) Thanks! Neil

Hi Neil, Based on my research, it seems that you add a custom library that is located on a removable drive or on a network drive or one or more of your custom libraries is not available. Therefore, please try the following: 1. Please double check the location in your Libraries, remove all network location or removable location, make sure that all the folders in your Libraries are accessible. You can also try to restore default libraries and see how it works. More information: Include folders in a library Customize a library Libraries: frequently asked questions 2. If you do not want to change your libraries settings, when you perform system backup, you need to change backup settings first. 1) In Backup and Restore window, choose Change Settings and run Set up backup wizard. 2) Uncheck all libraries related items, finish the wizard, run backup again and see how it works. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support
