Hello, A while ago I was trying to lock my external harddrive (1 Terabyte) with the Windows program BitLocker (I use Windows 7) so I could only open it using a password. I started the proces but after a while the power supply in my house went down which ment the external harddrive shut down before ending the process. I think the process was only 0,3% finished. Now when I connect the hard drive to my computer it asks for the password, which I enter. When I hit enter after that the BitLocker program hangs without giving me access to my files. Now I started experimenting with the repair bde tool to repair my external harddrive. For this I reproduced the problem on a little memory stick. Now I was able to fix the problem for this memory stick, but while doing it I accidently overwrite the partition where the recovery key for my external harddrive was located. Now my question is, if it is possible to reproduce the .txt file with the recovery password? Because I still have the password to unlock the harddrive. I also used some data recovery programs to trace back the deleted .txt file but for some reason most data recovery files do not recover files with the extension .txt,... frustrating because I was able to recover pictures that were in the same folder as the recovery password file. Hi, If you use some data recovery programs that cant recover .txt named like BitLocker recovery key 434605FD-9B07-4055-B889-C6C51FCFB.txt, you shuold ask data recovery company for help or format your external hard disk( but all the data in this hard disk will lost).
