BitLocker and 1.5GB partition
Is there any way to hideBitLocker's 1.5GB partition from users in Vista? And would hiding it cause any problems with boot-up? I don't want users (even users who are local admins) to be able to mess with it and cause the computer to stop working because they deleted a file. Thanks, Ben

Hi Ben, As far as I know, BitLocker is not designed to use a hide partition. This scenario is outside the support area. And it is not recommended. Thanks. Sincerely, Yog Li Microsoft Online Community Support

Ben, Yes there is a way to hide the 1.5 GB boot volume from users and it is supported. You'll need to create a Group Policy, either domain or local and set the following policy: User Configuration -> Administrative Templetes -> Windows Compoents -> WIndows Explorer -> Hide These specified drives in My Computer. If you cannot find an option on the menu that meets your needs follow this article to make the necessary changes so that the policy will work for your drivres: Using Group Policy Objects to hide specified drives http://support.microsoft.com/kb/231289 Thanks Joe Kipp

The policy applies in Windows Vista. In addition, set NTFS permissions appropriately on the partition.

But doesn't SCCM create the Bitlocker boot partition on the next available drive - so potentially it wouldn't be the same drive letter on every system if it has a media card reader, cd-rom, etc? How can you hide it in this case? Is anyone else concerned with end users deleting the boot partition?
