BitLocker Decrypting Frozen
So a while back I encrypted my western digital external hard drive with BitLocker. Recently I have been getting problems with Bitlocker so I've decided to remove it and start decrypting. Currently the decrypting has stop for over 24 hours now. I have tried restarting my computer, unplugging it and then restarting and many other failed solutions. After about an hour or so Bit Locker gives me an error about decrypting the external hard drive. Due to the frozen decrypting I can't access my files on the external hard drive. HELP ME!

Can you execute the below command and send the results. >manage-bde -status G: where G is the drive letter >manage-bde -protectors -get G: where G is the drive letter. Do you have the 48 digit recovery password for your volume which we save in AD or USB device or print it? -Manoj (MSFT)Manoj Sehgal

Hi, According the issue, bitlocker decrypted into your drive. And it has decrypted 83%. You may go on this process. Please understand the time-consuming is related to the data volume. Well the external hard drive isn't decrypting since the program freezes and tells me that there's an error.

Since we are not able to decrypt the drive 100%, you will have to use repair-bde command to get the data out of the drive. Attach external portable disk atleast equal to your original drive, which is 120 GB in your case. Open elevated command prompt and then run: repair-bde E: G: -f -rp 567468-315348-618893-269918-444312-064559-109615-687632 -lf c:\log.txt where E is the original drive G is the new disk where we will get the data -rp is recovery password -lf is log file location After repair-bde is completed 100%, you need to run chkdsk on G drive before you use it. >chkdsk g: /r http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee706528(WS.10).aspxManoj Sehgal
