Biometric Framework.
Good morning all. I am trying to replace our current biometric system here, and was interested in Windows Biometric Framework. I have R2 installed on the DC, installed the WBF Feature, and have windows 7 machines. On my machine itself, I go into the biometric devices, and turn on biometrics and also checked"allow users to log on to a domain...." (http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/3005/biokb.jpg) On my machine, everything works perfect, I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and just swipe my finger and it works fantastically. But I am unaware how to get this working on the actual domain and talking to my DC. Our current software we have to set accounts up, and no matter what computer they walk up to with a reader, it will sign them in. This current system is slow, and I would really like to start using WBF. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Greetings! After reading your post, I can shed some light on your inquiry. I have been working with the WBF now for about a year, and can say that what it provides for biometrics is amazing. What Ive also found is that in an enterprise environment it may not be exactly what you are looking for. The enrollments are saved locally on the machine, so roaming is not supported. An enterprise grade software solution is what you need. It sounds like you have a solution already, and are not happy with the speed of the application. There are other software applications that work better with the Windows Biometric Framework, but Ive yet to see anyone with an enterprise grade WBF solution, they are all using the legacy side of things. Just out of curiosity, what application are you using? Hope this helps!Network Systems Engineer * Zvetco Biometrics * Windows Server 2008 R2 * Core2 6600 @ 2.40GHz * 16 GIGS RAM * NVIDIA 9400GT * **>>PLEASE VOTE POSTS AS USEFUL TO ASSIST OTHER USERS<

Thanks for the reply. I am disappointed and relieved at the same time to realize that this is not a enterprise solution. Disappointed because it would be amazing to use this in my environment, but relieved because I was going insane trying to figure out a way to get this to work with just Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. Currently we are using Siemens ID Center, which works fantastic, but our main concern was the recurring cost and only certain readers would work with the software. I have not looked into the new version of SIC or if they are support Windows 7 with it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Steve

Sorry for the late reply... A good enterprise grade biometric solution approved for use with 2008R2, and Windows 7 clients, is Authasas. You can find more information about them at www.authasas.com . They also work with a multitude of readers, and your readers you have currently may in fact work with this solution.
