Big delay with file association process
Win Xp SP3, office 2003, 2G RAM,For a while now, whenever I double clik on a file in GUI using either Windows explorer, Total Commander, or on the desktop I get a very big delay (typically 2.5 minutes) before the application will start & load the file.During the delay the GUI is hung (win explorer, Total Commander, Explorer (task bar)) then is ok once file is loaded into target application.Makes no difference if application is already open.Applications include, Word, XL, Corel Draw, Internet explorer, LT spice. If I drag n drop or file open from application no prob.Adobe acrobat 8 std, ACDC, PSP does not have any delay.Prior to this issue occuring I did get some memory full errors while using Rhino 3D modeling program, (I havent used this prog since SP3 install.)To fix this problem our IT department upgraded OS to SP3, this cured the problem for a while then it came back after a few restarts. What is the file association process doing?, it seems like it is waiting for something then timing out. ?No processes look to be consuming any unusual amounts of CPU time,I was able to get a process dump that looks for application hang but I am unable to read this dump file.I have a work-around by not double clicking to open files but sometimes I forget & resulting curses ensue. #@!$%Any Help or ideas will be apreciated Thanks GTJau1 person needs an answerI do too
