Best way to manage User password changes in non-domain PCs across the Internet?
I am managing about 20 widely dispersed remote PC’s over the Internet. Each PC is not a member of a domain and uses local authentication. All of these PCs are used by a small group of users that travel between the remote sites. So, on each of these PCs there will be a local ‘John’ user account. Is anybody aware of any way to sync the passwords on these accounts without resorting to setting up an AD domain? If the user ‘John’ changes his password is there any way to communicate that change to all of the other 20 PCs over the Internet. Right now the user has to change the password manually on each PC. I know this is exactly why AD domains were created in the first place. Long story short, I cannot add these PCs to the company domain. Thanks for any suggestions, John

The short answer is no. What you could do is setup your own AD for this purpose and do it that way if you cannot use the company's domain.

Hi Darien, Thanks for the reply. That is pretty much what I thought. I was hoping somebody might know of some cool hosted web service to solve this that I was not aware of. Oh well... Thanks, John
