Best way to clone a hard drive
I have a windows 8 OS desktop 2 TB HDD. I have Plex installed and use the computer mainly as my media server. I have roughly 400 movies. I was wondering if I could remove the HDD, Make an exact copy of it using a "Blac X" drive dock that I have? And what is involved in this if it's possible? I was thinking this would be easier than re-uploading my movies to a new HDD if it ever crashes. Thanks in advance for any input.

Welcome to the forum. Not very clear what your trying to do if you just want a backup you can clone it to another drive but it may be better to clone to an image on the second drive as that way you can keep several backup copies as an image compressed takes up a lot less space. Its better to separate movies from o/s either by partition or disk so you can recover o/s in the fastest time

Windows backup&restore or some backup software cloud do this. Ghost and aomei backupper Ive tried.
