Before I log on, Windows XP says I have unread mail when I don't.  How do I turn that notification off or reset the Windows counter.
I have rebooted the machine several time. I have left Outlook up for hours to reset counter. I have un-installed Outlook yet.1 person needs an answerI do too

I have the same problem. Except I do not use Outlook. The unread mail is from a Yahoo account, and it always shows 1 unread email message, even when the account is completely empty.

Since you don't use Outlook, you do *not* have the same problem. And, since this thread ended in March, you should start your own with your specific situation.
