Battery Not Detected in Windows 8.1
Hi there,

I have the Lenovo G710. I haven't used the battery for a while now and I use the laptop by connecting the powerlead directly to mains power outlet. I decided today to plug the battery in. The battery indicator lights up.

Windows 8.1 does not detect the battery and it states "No Battery Detected".

What i have tried:
I have installed all the latest Windows Updates and it still doesnt detect the battery.
I even installed the latest chipset drivers for this laptop and it still doesnt detect it. The only update i cannot install is the BIOS update because it states that "Battery Not Detected".
I uninstalled the following from Device Manager: Microsoft ACPI compliant Control Method Battery.

Switched off the laptop

Removed the battery pack

Removed the AC power lead from the laptop

Held the power button for 30 seconds to drain the battery

Reconnect the battery pack

Reconnect the AC power lead

Turn the laptop on.

Battery not detected.

Can anyone assist what i could do next please? I have put this question to Lenovo and they haven't even come back to me yet

Hi IndusKing,

Have you tried to run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a check?

To troubleshoot whether this issue is caused by the hardware, we could try to replace the AC Adapter with a same model to have a troubleshoot if it is possible.
I have came across a similar issue before. The AC Adapter is pluged in to the machine but it didn`t charge, I replaced the AC Adapter with another same model and the issue was gone.

Hi,

I was also having the same trouble with my G710.

I solve the problem by open up to the device manager and rightclick and uninstall "Microsoft AC Adapter" and "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Methode Battery" found under the battery section. After unistalling i made a restart and there was my battery fully functional :)

I hope this helps like it helped me.

kind regards,

Sven
