Base Filtering Engine blocking application traffic on one workstation
We are using an application that accesses the internet to retrieve data from a database. Our Windows Ultimate 7 32-bit workstations are running in a workgroup scenario. Only one workstations is affected by the following issue. When we try to connect to the online database on the affected workstation, the application reports back that a firewall is blocking traffic. We went though the steps of disabling the Windows firewall and the antivirus program, but this didn't resolve the issue. After their tech support told us there was nothing they could do, I went back to the workstation and found that the program worked just fine in Safe Mode. I booted into normal mode and started killing processes and disabling services. In the end, it turned out that anytime the Base Filtering Agent was enabled, the program couldn't access the internet. I tried removing the allow rule for the application in Windows Firewall and then recreating it. This didn't help either. Since the application works on all of our other similarly configured workstations, I'm left with figuring out some way to give the BFE a lobotomy. Any ideas?

Hi, I suggest restoring Windows Firewall to default. Also check if there is any IPSec policy on the problematic PC. If so, just delete it. Restore Windows Firewall settings http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Restore-Windows-Firewall-settings Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
