I am trying to backup my files on my computer to an external hard drive. Each time I try to run the backup wizard, I get a message saying that the "backup utility cannot connect to the removable storage device". I then go into removable storage. Whenever I click on it, it becomes disabled. I have tried backing up my computer using two different kinds of external hard drives and this has happened both times. go to start in the search bar type computer management when the search brings up computer management look for disk managament look for your external hd if you see it make sure it is formated and on line if not formatted right click on the drive and format careful this will delete all info on that drive
