Hi,
Please check with the discs and make sure they’re writable. Also, please check if the DVD-RW can burn other files to determine
whether the burner works. If feasible, try and backup to an external hard disk or different discs and check if the error message reappears.
First, let’s
temporarily
disable antivirus software and
Firewall on the computer as a test and then proceed with performing the backup.
Note: Make sure you turn-on the antivirus software and Windows Firewall later.
Now check if you can complete the backup. If the issue persists, I suggest you to boot the computer
Clean Boot to
check if it works properly.
If the issue persists, please
confirm if
the libraries are costumed and the BitLocker Drive Encryption is enabled.
If you are
still
not able to perform the backup on any CD/DVDs, then perform the following steps:
If you have any third-party CD/DVD-burning software such as Nero or Roxio installed,
temporarily
uninstall the same.
Note: Make sure you have the installation files for later reference.
Let’s open the
Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to run the automated troubleshooting services.
· Click
Start, Control Panel
· In the Control Panel, click
System and Security
· In the System and Security window, under Action Center, click
Troubleshoot common computer problems
· In the Troubleshoot computer problems window, click
Hardware and Sound and under
Device select
playing and burning CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray Discs to automatically diagnose and fix a problem.
Try performing a backup now and check if things get better. If the troubleshooter doesn’t fix the issue, you may go ahead and
uninstall and re-install the existing drivers:
To uninstall and re-install the existing drivers, refer to the
Remove and reinstall drivers
section in the following KB article:
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
After the computer restarts, the drivers will be automatically installed.
Try performing a backup now and check if you can successfully accomplish the same.
Hope this helps.
