While trying to backup my hard drive, my Windows 7 64 bit system goes into a tight loop. Looking at the task manager, my CPU is running at 100%, but CPU reported for allactive tasks is only 20 - 30%. At the same time, all my USB devices seem to stop working. Also, the backup icon in the system try always shows 'Backup in Progress', when no backup is in process. Anyone else having these problems?

Hi Fredw1958: Backup never gets past 7 % even with only one directory being backed up, no 100 loop, i click on stop & goes into stopping and never ends, device manager & killed it but even then it still show a running when I tried to run it again. I finally did a restart in order to stop it. Will play around with it tomorrow & will let you know what happens.

Fred,We need the backup traces to make any conclusion with the issue you are seeing. Can you pl. collect the backup traces under %windir%\Logs\WindowsBackup and send them across to sriramb_at_microsoft_dot_com (pl. remove _'s and also correct the expansion for at & dot to get to my mail ID).Thanks,Sriram [MSFT]
