Backup HD to DVD failes every time
In this case restore runs for a number of disks and fails with the error "invalid file system" no error code then stops. The resulting DVD's are ok except for the last which requires a scan to correct errors. The Problem recurs every time. THere are 2 drives C & D Cis the current system partition and D which has a system partition from a prior Windos 2000 install. On the D drive there is one unallocated partition of about 9 MB.ThanksIdaho Rich

Thanks,I believe the problem is not on the DVD and that the reason the Last DVD needs to be scanned is that the backup aborts and does not close the file system it was building on the DVD.Idaho Rich

In a new Development to this problem I tried a Image Backup with similar but somewhat different results (see Below)Image backup failed but this time was preceded by the following message. The Backup FailedThe disk structure is corrupted and unreadable (0X80070571) I believe this refers to the disk it is backing up not the DVD it is writing to. I ran disk check on all drives without encountering any problems. The problem may relate to the D drive there is one unallocated partition of about 9 MB.

Hi,Regret the inconvenience caused. Could you pass on the contents of <<SystemDrive>>\Windows\Logs\WindowsBackup to sneham_at_microsoft_dot_com (Remove underscores and replace words with characters wherever applicable). This can help us investigate the issue. Thanks,Sneha[MSFT]
