I have successfully backed up to my Western Digital MyBook with no problems. Are you getting any errors? If so, post them and we'll see if we can help.

It tried to do a backup again and it stopped at 65%. With the following error report. "The media is write protected", and error code is 0X80070012.I do not understand this, because I have made many ghost backup's of Vista to this external hard drive. There is also 340 Gbytes of free space available.I tried backing up to another partition with the same result. So come on guys where to now?

Sorry for the delay in replying to your question.Could you pl. collect the backup failure traces under %windir%\Logs\WindowsBackup and send them to sriramb_at_microsoft_dot_com (fudged my mail-ID to avoid spam, pl. remove the under-scores and replace the extraneous words with corresponding symbols). Thanks,Sriram [MSFT]

I too have problems backing up. Worked well on a USB 2 external drive once, but have since swapped to an eSATA external drive and received the message of failed backup, error code 0x81000037 which unfortunately is of no help. Anyone have any solutions? Thanks, Nick
