Backspacing Problem
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop using Windows 7. Lately I have had a problem trying to backspace to make a correction in what I am typing. It will jump back into other words and because I continue to type, I do not see it immediately. Then I have to find where the letters are and correct the words. It is extremely frustrating and sometimes it does that even when I have not used the backspace key. Is it a computer problem or what causes it and how can it be fixed? All of the diagnostics I have run show that everything is okay.Christine Cassello

Hi, Firstly, please let us if the issue occurs with all programs, such as notepad and Microsoft Word. Also, please try the following: 1. Disable your touchpad via Fn key. If the issue persists, please also check your mouse or change another one to have a try. 2. Test the issue in Clean Boot Mode. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support

The touchpad is what I use to move the cursor. I do not have an external mouse. If I disable the touchpad will I still be able to put the cursor where i want it?Christine Cassello

P.S. Yes, it does it in Word and I think in Notepad too but I don't get that reaction all the time, so I didn't see it in what I typed on Notepad. While I was typing this note I had no problem. Notepad is not doing a word wrap though. I just lose the first part of what I type. It goes out of view.Christine Cassello

Hi, Have you tried Clean Boot? If not, please have a try and see how it works. Also, please check if system restore can help. In addition, disabling Touchpad is to determine whether the issue is caused by Touchpad and you can use arrow keys instead. Please also try it. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support
